Becoming, 2013, Graphite and Pencil Crayon, Various Dimensions

Becoming is a series of portraits honoring friends and artists who are queer identified women. I work from photographs taken in my home studio, which lends a familiar feeling to each pose. The title Becoming refers both to the subject's handsomeness and to the nature of identity as being never fully formable.
